Expressions of interest (EOIs) are now open for passionate, skilled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to join our Producing Team.
ILBIJERRI Theatre Company is the longest-established First Peoples’ theatre company in Australia, celebrating 35 years strong this year. We are recruiting for a New Works Producer to lead the producing and commissioning of new works by established playwrights, as well as managing the national tour of our project Bullymen & Me.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in supporting playwrights through script development, coordinating national touring logistics (including venue and partner liaison), confidence in building and managing budgets and preparing funding acquittal reports, as well as an ability to be flexible to offer support across the broader Producing Team, though all backgrounds and skill sets are welcome and encouraged to apply!

The Position
The New Works Producer leads the producing and commissioning of new work by established playwrights and manages ILBIJERRI’s national touring project Bullymen & Me, while providing additional producing support across the wider Producing Team. The role balances dedicated project delivery with flexible team support, ensuring ILBIJERRI’s new work development and touring commitments are delivered to a high standard.
ABOUT THE PROJECT: BULLYMEN & ME
Bullymen and Me is a major, multi-year national theatre initiative led by ILBIJERRI Theatre Company that brings together First Peoples artists, communities, and young people to create a large-scale verbatim work grounded in lived experience. Ceded in 2027 and delivered in phases over several years, this program will be designed as both an artistic process and a cultural intervention, one that centres the voices of First Peoples children who have encountered policing and the youth justice system, and reframes them within a platform of agency, authorship and truth-telling. A series of panel discussions, essays and fireside yarns will bring community advocates, experts, elders and families together to discuss ways to make Australia a safer place for our young ones.
- Salary range: $80,000 - $85,000 pro rata + superannuation
- Tenure: Part-Time 12-month contract, subject to renewal
